This was my best picture this week, though it does not clearly demonstrate our assignment to practice with depths of field. Even though I was close to the statue, a wide aperture still focused on the mare's head and blurrred out the colt, which had been my intention. I don't know why I like this one better than a more evenly focused one, except that there is more contrast in this picture--as though the blur vs. focus added a greater dimension of color contrast.
Big lesson learned is that it pays to wait for good light conditions. (This was not one of those golden moments.)
