I practiced panning at the dog park. Of course I ended up deleting 95% of them, but I got some lucky snaps. I think the top one with the Dalmation is the best one because of the look on the little dog's face. It makes me laugh. But the second one is of my beautiful baby boy Otto, tongue flying in the wind, eyes crossed. Maybe not the BEST one in general, but it's the best one to ME because of my relationship to the subject. Catching these dogs with a fast shutter speed was TONS OF FUN!!! The third one is of the fountain that is across from Percival Landing and the Oyster House. It was fun experimenting with viewing the water from different angles, trying to get reflections, or the Capitol building in the background, or simply water flying through the air against the blue sky. I like the patterns of flying water in this one.

Dalmation was taken in Shutter Speed Priority Mode, f-13, shutter speed 1/250, and ISO 400

Otto the Bernese Mountain Dog with Tongue was taken in Shutter Speed Priority Mode, f-10, 1/250 shutter speed, ISO 400

Fountain was taken in Shutter Speed Priority Mode, f-9, shutter speed 1/4000, ISO 400

I did not feel too comfortable trying to figure out the compensatory settings required for Manual Mode. One step at a time for me.

  1. I also took several pictures at the fountain this weekend, and almost posted one of my own, but I think you did a little better job of capturing both the pattern of flying water and reflections on the ground that were easily wiped out by a little splashing.

  2. I like the photo of the Dalmation chasing the little dog. The little dog looks like he is running scared. Action at it's best! Doreen
