Svetlana. I was experimenting with using different apertures to see how it affects the depth of field. The first picture was taken at f/5,6, ISO 200, 105 mm. I wanted the bird to be in focus and make background less destracting. But still I want the viewer to see some details of the port. The second shot was taken at f/3 to blur the background as much as possible (ISO 200, 105 mm). The third photo was taken at f/1, low ISO, 85 mm. I tried to keep all the details sharp.
Svetlana, these are all beautiful, but I want to comment especially on the boat picture. I love how you chose to include as much water as you did--the way that the boat and harbor is almost limited to a third of the picture and that the water and sky is as much the subject as the "subject"--how STILL the water is and how even the sky, and how the water and sky are of almost the same color so as to be one thing. So much STILLNESS, and then the boat is so CRISP. It's a beautiful thing... :)
ReplyDeleteYou know what else adds to this look of STILLNESS/CRISPNESS? The way that the line in the front of the boat lines up exactly with the boat's mast, and the way that whole line is exactly parallel with that other mast or pole or whatever to the left. I imagine that if I were the owner of that boat, I would want to buy a print of this.
